Innovation + cost-effectiveness
The Queensland State Government had an urgent need for temporary accommodation to house two disaster simulation survivors in support of their Get Ready Queensland Survive 3 project. The Get Ready Queensland initiative is an annual program organised by the Government Department of Local Community Recovery and Resilience to help make Queensland the most disaster resilient state in Australia.
The 3.0m x 9.44m self-contained modular unit was a refurbished existing unit, which was ideal for the Government’s budget and provided the project with a unique economic advantage. Black Diamond removed the original steel front exterior and replaced it with 8 mm clear Perspex in order to provide a clear view into the activities of the survival simulation, which was effective in drawing attention to the unit and the Survive 3 campaign.
This project was completed in just 7 days, which provided the client cost and time savings, a seamless installation and minimal disturbances at site.
