Central Coast Grammar School

Located in Erina Heights, New South Wales, the school project consists of 11 classrooms and three amenities blocks, placed on four prominent sites across the Central Coast Grammar School Erina Heights Campus. It is one of the largest education projects completed by the Australian team to date.

While the four classroom sites are located in close proximity to one another, the units are independent, ensuring flexibility and reusability for future projects, and naturally creating an effective sound barrier. Each classroom provides students and staff with a spacious learning environment, complemented by ambulant and access-compliant facilities. The design of the classrooms also incorporate a full-length covered deck that provides space to hang backpacks, as well as shelter for variable weather conditions.

It was critical that the project was operational for the start of the academic year. To ensure the timing was met, concrete dry-laid blocks and pneumatic earth anchors were used, which eliminated the need for excavation and mass concrete footing. This improved the safety on site due to the limited vehicle access. In addition to enabling a faster installation process, this method also reduced the damage caused to the natural environment and the natural flora was preserved. Black Diamond's signature heritage red and antique linen colour scheme, visible on the exterior of the modular units, blended well with the existing facilities and the surrounding environment – which was of high importance for the client.
