Exercise Talisman Sabre is the major bilateral combined training exercise between the Australian and United States militaries. Its purpose is to strengthen the alliance between the two forces and practice military Combined and Joint Task Force operations, and improve combat readiness and interoperability.

Every two years, Talisman Sabre is held, typically in northern and eastern Australia. Other nations’ troops may also be invited to participate or observe the exercise, which incorporates force preparation and logistics activities, amphibious landings, land force manoeuvres, urban, air, maritime operations, and Special Forces activities.

TS19 was the eighth iteration of the warfighting exercise, held primarily at the ADF Shoalwater Bay Training Area near Rockhampton, Central Queensland. Additional activities were also carried out in other regional areas throughout the state. The entire exercise ran from late June to early August 2019 and involved approximately 25,000 personnel operating across land, maritime and air disciplines. Troops from New Zealand, United Kingdom, Japan and Canada attended the exercise this year.

Black Diamond Group supplied over 300 pieces of various equipment and successfully arranged the mobilisation, installation and commissioning of assets to support troops across numerous sites throughout the training area.

Black Diamond’s approach, flexibility and experience within the Defence sector allowed for a seamless and agile response to the Australian Defence Forces’ wide range of requirements.
